Coding before AI was like alchemy: collecting ingredients, preparing them, carefully measuring and brewing. With ChatGPT came charms; with Claude, the power to transfigure reality. Soon, Blast-Ended Skrewts will eat the world we know.
Meet Professor Snape. He teaches Potions. Through diligent groundwork -- studying books and combining ingredients -- he distills and synthesizes magical potions. Though his work is magic, it seems tedious and less impressive. He produces lasting artifacts that can be used again and again.

Meet Professor Flitwick. He teaches Charms. Out of nowhere, with a flick of his wand, he creates sparks, words, snippets, and images. The effects of his magic are often ephemeral.

Meet Professor McGonagall. She teaches Transfiguration. Years of experience allow her to define the outcome she wants, plus boundaries and security rules. She uses her agentic power to transform the physical world safely. The effects of her magic last.

Meet Hagrid. He teaches Care of Magical Creatures. You might have heard of Hippogriffs, unicorns, Claws, and Dark Factories. They obey their caretakers only to a small extent, and have a lot of autonomy and agency. Often they are harmless and cute. But they can also be dangerous and hard to control. Some of them, like dragons, might be more powerful than any wizard.

Meet Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They are new at Hogwarts. They are juniors. They have absolutely no idea what is going on here. One day they will explore realms of magic that no wizard has explored before.
